(note - often used to replace worn out a Roland cone in V-drums, hence the Roland references)

The UFODrums OctaCone ($10.80) and imported Cone ($16.00) are both 34mm in height and with a 3M adhesive disc included that is 2mm thick, or 36mm combined. Roland's OEM foam cone is 36mm in height.

Foam material/density is the same, shape a little different, OctaCone is solid foam and the imported Cone is a 3-piece laminate (similar to Roland’s) with a full adhesive base. They perform the same in side-by-side testing. You may have to fine-tune percussion module parameter settings since these non-OEM foam interfaces are a little denser foam than the Roland OEM cone.

The OctaCone is my proprietary design and produced in the US. OctaCone is the new default standard for all eBridge and SideArm conversion assemblies. The imported Cone is an upgrade purely based on Roland-familiararity and a higher import cost structure.

When a head trigger, Roland or any other brand/build, isn’t performing like it “used to,” it is because one or both components have degraded and no longer deliver the triggering performance it used to. These two components in a any head trigger system is a ceramic piezo (27mm or 35mm in diameter) and a foam cone (or other shaped foam energy transfer interface).

These components break down with use (normal wear-n-tear) or damage.
